biography
Lauren Smith is a dancer, choreographer, photographer, and digital content creator based in Michigan. She will be graduating from Western Michigan University in May 2021 with her Bachelor of Fine Arts in dance and a minor in general business. Here she has had the opportunity to perform works by Melanie George, Brendan Dougan, Aszure Barton, Kate Skarpetowska, and Seyong Kim, and was a member of Western Dance Project under direction of Whitney Moncrief (2018-2019). In 2018, she atteneded the American College Dance Association East-Central Conference to perform Brendan Duggan's work, Haunt. Outside of performing, Lauren serves on the board of Orchesis Dance Society as the Social Media Coordinator.
In addition to working towards her degree, Lauren travels with Dupree Dance Convention and Competition as an assistant instructor. Since 2018, she has had the opportunity to travel to Chicago, Illinois, Houston, Texas, and Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She also holds a position at Jodie Randolph Dance as the Digital Media and Brand Manager and has been a part of their team since 2019. Through her various work positions and schooling, Lauren continues to build her photography portfolio, in which she specializes in dance and movement-based photos. She has had the privilege of photographing many developing artists in the Kalamazoo and Ann Arbor Areas.
